Getting RESULTS!

Engaging communities, facilitating conversations, and collaborating to find solutions

Charlie envisions a future where everyone in Saline feels included, connected, and engaged in our community. Every student has something or someone to look forward to during their school day. Teachers feel supported by parents, and parents feel engaged in their child’s education.

Charlie wants to deepen community relations and ensure every student feels welcomed, engaged, and safe. They want to elevate student voice, engage parents, improve communications, and eliminate hate speech and bullying.

Charlie envisions an educational system that views youth as equal partners in creating change and as experts on their own needs. Everyone feels safe and supported to use their voice and is included in decisions that will impact their future.

Schools are at the heart of democracy. It is where we learn math and reading as well as history, civics, and how to interact with other people. It is often our first experience of existing in a community. It is where we learn to share, build friendships, and explore different interests. Charlie wants to guarantee that students have a high-quality education that includes how to participate in democracy and to work for the common good of all people.

School board members are the connection between the school district and elected officials serving in Lansing. As a school board member, Charlie will connect with local representatives in Lansing to ensure they are prioritizing public education. They will also share the information they received from legislators with the greater SAS community.

Success is different for every child. Some students dream of Ivy League schools, while others might dedicate themselves to a trade, and there are an infinite number of pathways to success. Success isn’t just test scores, AP classes, and early college admission. It is about students feeling safe, welcome, and included in their schools. Success is sparking curiosity, facilitating exploration, and participating in the community.

Strong Public Schools impact everyone, even if your kids have already graduated, did not attend public schools, or you do not have children. Paraphrasing Thomas Jefferson, an educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people.

Every student is valued, engaged, connected, and nurtured.
